On April 25th, 2015 at 11:56am, an earthquake killed over 9,000 people throughout Nepal, India, China, and Bangladesh and injured more than 23,000. This has been the worst natural disaster to hit there since the 1934 Nepal-Bihar earthquake. The earthquake was triggered by an avalanche on Mount Everest, that also killed at least 19 people. This makes April 25th, 2015 the deadliest day on the mountain in history. This earthquake triggered another avalanche in the Langtang valley where 250 people were reported missing.
Aftershocks continued to occur throughout the country just about every 15-20 minutes, with one of those shocks reaching a magnitude of 6.7 on April 26th at 12:54pm. Another aftershock happened May 12th at 12:52 with a magnitude of 7.3. The epicenter was near the Chinese border between the capital of Kathmandu and Mt. Everest. This aftershock killed over 200 people and injured more than 2,500.
Not only were centuries-old buildings destroyed, hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless. Everything they’ve ever known was destroyed in this disaster, and now, almost 7 months later, life has not returned to normal for the Nepalese people. We came together as a group of creatives to use our abilities to help the people affected by this natural disaster. We created this site in hopes of raising awareness of this disaster, as well as raising money to help support the relief efforts still going on in Nepal. 100% of the purchases will go to helping rebuild and to bringing some normalcy back to this beautiful country. If you’d like to donate posters to the cause, check out our FAQ section for our submission guidelines. If you’re unable to contribute artistically, here are some links where you can donate money.
